First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to Allah, the Almighty, for this wonderful distinction. I also want to express my gratitude to you all for your trust. Both a great honour and a huge responsibility come with it. I appreciate the hard work that my predecessors did to advance the Chamber and their contribution to drawing attention to the issues facing the business community everywhere.

I have taken on this role with a strong commitment to helping the business community and putting out my best efforts to find solutions to the major problems that face trade and industry. I would like to ask the HCCI members to keep bringing us proposals and ideas for bettering our services. Your support and suggestions would help us raise the bar for our operations and provide the Chamber with a more solid foundation.

We will be able to fulfil our function successfully with your help and the blessings of Allah, the Almighty. Apolitical, independent, membership-based, volunteer-driven, and not-for-profit, the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a clear mission to guide and support the business community in this land of potential.

As President, it is my first and foremost responsibility to serve the business community and the HCCI members in particular with missionary zeal, dedication, and commitment.

I will do everything in my power to make insightful and significant policy contributions through dynamic initiatives that would have a positive impact on Haripur’s social and economic landscape.

Businesses and organizations in our community, the District of Haripur, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Pakistan as a whole are represented by the Chamber.

My Mission:

I will also try to act as a sponsor for the local business community and facilitate them by providing opportunities for them to promote their businesses locally and internationally in order to become the voice of the business community and to make a firm commitment to improving the quality of life and economic prosperity in Haripur.

My Goals are:

To actively and rather proactively participate in the formulation of public policy because it has an impact on the country’s economic growth and development.
To effectively convey the opinions of the business community at appropriate government levels and forums, particularly regarding issues pertaining to Haripur and this region.
To encourage individual and collective accomplishments, business excellence, and private enterprise.
To provide the resources deemed necessary to boost member involvement in the community through this chamber and to guarantee appropriate levels of member services.
To strengthen the Organization by expanding its membership and resource pool Strategic Plans.

My commitment to continuously meet our members’ needs is enshrined in the Strategic Plan, which enshrines my commitment to providing excellent service and programs. The Chamber has a significant role and a significant responsibility because it is a member-based organization. While the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry serves as an advocate, connector, communicator, facilitator, and thought leader for many businesses, organizations, and individuals, it also serves as a community advocate and leader for key stakeholders. During the visit, also participated in several seminars hosted by the Makkah Chamber, exploring Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 business development plans and investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s growing business sectors. Additionally, meet with Mr. Mohamed Al Mahmoudy and other foreign delegates to discuss avenues for bilateral trade promotion and future collaboration between business communities.

Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Former Chairman Religious Harmony Committee Nayyar Abbas Jafri organized a tea party in honor of the newly elected President of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Abdul Basit and the former cabinet, in which chamber members participated. The speakers congratulated the newly elected young leadership on their success and expected them to take vigorous steps for the development and progress of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the welfare of the members. The Punjab government’s unconstitutional ban on the supply of wheat, flour and meal should be lifted immediately. The ban will lead to flour crisis, increase in prices, closure of businesses and increase in unemployment. The provincial government should make serious efforts to resolve this issue and sit with Punjab and the federation to resolve it permanently, while the Prime Minister of Pakistan should take immediate notice of this issue and play a role. World White Cane Day – October 15 A ceremony was organized at Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of the Chairman Standing Committee for Civil Society Affairs, Mr. Qaiser Ali Warsi. Additional Commissioner for Relief Qamar Zia, President Haripur Chamber of Commerce Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Mr. Abdul Basit, Executive Members of the Chamber, Madam Sana, Head of Social Welfare Department, District Haripur and other social dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The executive body meeting of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded the immediate lifting of the provincial division between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the ban on the supply of flour and maida. The public and the business community are facing difficulties and problems due to the increase in prices due to the shortage of flour and maida in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the meeting, facilitation desks of various departments will be established for the convenience of the chamber members. Establishment of a facilitation desk, online filing of SECP, online registration of all executives, current status of the chamber bank account, proposals for managing monthly expenses till the renewal year 2026, announcement by the President FPCCI of the provision of a solar system for the chamber office, establishment of a coordination committee in this regard, determination of rates for advertising on the chamber wall, approval for increasing the privileges and powers of the executive body members to strengthen and activate the chamber of commerce.

A delegation from the Traders’ Protection Group visited the Haripur Chamber, which included Raja Hafeez, President of the Traders’ Protection Group, Dr. Chaudhry Aslam, Chamber Member Shuja Ahmed and other members. They congratulated the newly elected President Malik Umair Khalid and Vice President Abdul Basit and assured them of all possible cooperation from the Traders’ Protection Group.

A delegation of Private Education Network Haripur arrived at the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry office. The newly elected President of the Chamber, Malik Umair Khalid, and Vice President Abdul Basit were congratulated on their success. A delegation of office bearers and members of the Grocery Association and Chamber of Commerce met Deputy Commissioner Haripur Waseem Ahmed and DPO Haripur Farhan Khan separately and apprised them of the issues faced regarding the provincialization of flour. The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the entry of flour and maida into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, due to which the public and the business community are facing problems and difficulties. Social activist and head of the Pakistan Republic Party, Reham Khan, has said that the business community plays an important role in the country’s economic development. The country’s economy will be strengthened by the development of business and industry. Unemployment will be eliminated from the country and the country will move on the path of development. The government should create facilities for the business community instead of burdening them with taxes. She expressed these views while addressing the office bearers and members of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Secretariat. President Haripur Chamber Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Abdul Basit and Executive Body Members of Industry and Trade attended the Job Fair 2025 ceremony at Pak-Austria Fair. The special guest of the ceremony was Secretary Higher Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Captain Kamran Ahmed Afridi. Project Director Dr. Nasir Ali Khan, Aun Ali Syed, Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Vice Chancellors of various universities were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion of International Children’s Day on November 20, a seminar was organized at the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Secretariat, with Aun Ali Syed, Vice President FPCCI, as the chief guest. On this occasion, President Chamber Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Abdul Basit, former President Shahbaz Mahmood, District Education Officer Muhammad Tanveer Awan, Dr. Abdul Mohmin and the executive body and members of the Chamber of Commerce were present. The first meeting of the Standing Committee on Homeopathic Clinics and Stores Affairs was held at the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Syed Badshah Hussain and the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Abdul Hadi. All the members of the Committee attended the meeting in full. The meeting expressed a joint commitment to further improve the standards of health and safety, strengthen regulatory affairs and implement the objectives and goals of the Committee.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Institute of Management Sciences, University of Haripur. This agreement will open new avenues for students, industrialists and the business community and will promote modern skills, economic development and industrial cooperation in Haripur.

The Trend International Lucky Draw ceremony was held at the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the host of Vice President Haripur Chamber Mr. Abdul Basit. The ceremony was attended by various cosmetics shopkeepers of Haripur, who were awarded cash prizes for their best sales. Zonal Sales Manager Laik Ahmed represented Trend International and appreciated the efforts of the local business community. The first prize of Rs. 50,000 was won by Abdul Wahid Cosmetics Girls College Road. Chairman Cosmetic Committee Affairs Muhammad Suleman was also present at the ceremony, along with other members.

From the platform of the Standing Committee on Prisons of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Haripur, with the mutual cooperation of the Chamber of Commerce and Al-Khidmat Foundation, heated beds were distributed among the prisoners of Central Jail Haripur to protect them from the severe cold of the winter season. The aim of this welfare initiative was to protect the prisoners from the harshness of the weather and meet the needs of humanity. On this occasion, Chairman Standing Committee on Prisons, Aqeel Ahmed Awan and General Secretary Al-Khidmat Foundation, Usman Siraj themselves distributed heated beds among the prisoners and listened to their problems.

A pitch deck competition was organized at the Pak-Austria Fakhasho Business Incubation Center under the supervision of Dr. Noman Habib. In this competition, emerging startups of the university presented their innovative and creative business models in various business sectors. The students’ projects were reviewed. The judges’ panel, headed by Malik Umair Khalid, President of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, included Ammar Haider, Muhammad Mahmood-ur-Rehman, Hammad Waheed, Executive Members of Haripur Chamber and Waqar Jadoon (National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation).

Under the auspices of the Standing Committee on Social Welfare of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce, warm sweaters were distributed among the children of Government Primary School Ahil Hattar. President of the Chamber Malik Umair Khalid distributed sweaters among the children. Chairman of the Social Welfare Committee Zafar Iqbal distributed warm sweaters among the deserving children of Primary School Ahil Hattar. Former Senior Vice President of the Chamber Sajid Naseem and teachers of the school were present on this occasion, who appreciated the efforts of Chairman Committee Zafar Iqbal and paid tribute to him.

A delegation of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce met with Senior Member of the Board of Revenue Aamir Sultan Tareen, and discussed the chamber lease process and other issues. The chamber delegation included President Malik Umair Khalid, Chairman HR Committee Zia-ur-Rehman Khan and former executive body member Malik Abdul Basit. They informed about the lease process of the Haripur Chamber, in addition to the collection of 6% illegal tax on the transfer of lease to a third party under the Stamp Act 1899, and a detailed discussion was also held regarding commercial e-stamps and informed about the recent difficulties faced by people regarding e-stamps, to which he said that soon the e-stamp facility will be available from other commercial banks in addition to Khyber Bank. The delegation thanked the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue.

A rally was organized by the District Administration Haripur on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day. President of Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malik Umair Khalid participated in the rally along with members of the chamber.

The fifth annual Mr. Hazara Bodybuilding Championship was organized in collaboration with the district administration and Builder Gym Gold Haripur. President Haripur Chamber of Commerce Malik Umair Khalid, renowned business figures Amjad Ali Chughtai, Sharafat Ali Abbasi, Khalid Rehman Awan distributed prizes and trophies among the players.

Leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Yousuf Ayub Khan, former opposition leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan and provincial parliamentary leader and chairman of the DEDIC Committee Akbar Ayub Khan are holding a meeting with the President of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Abdul Basit and executive members of the chamber regarding the nationwide shutter down and wheel jam strike on February 8.

The Hult Prize, the biggest competition of student entrepreneurs, was held at Pak-Austria University on February 3, 2026. The event was attended by distinguished guests of the Haripur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including Vice President Haripur Chamber Mr. Abdul Basit, Executive Members Mr. Muhammad Fayyaz and Usman Waheed, while the Chairman of the Standing Committee for Import and Export of the Chamber Mr. Syed Ahmed Jan Sikandar.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has said that providing all possible facilities to pilgrims is the top priority. Vaccination for pilgrims will be done at the level of every district. The business community is our pride. They play an important role in the country’s economic development. The government is taking steps to solve their problems. He expressed these views during a meeting with the chamber’s office bearers and members upon his arrival at the Haripur Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Abdul Basit, Chairman Hajj Umrah Committee Haji Shaukat Nawaz and the committee and members presented issues and suggestions related to Hajj and Umrah to the federal government.

DPO Haripur Shafiullah Gandapur visited the office of the Chamber of Commerce. He met with the President of the Chamber and other officials. DSP City Saeed Yadoon and DSP Headquarters Muhammad Tanveer were also present on this occasion. President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malik Umair Khalid, Vice President Abdul Basit and members of the Chamber discussed in detail the overall law and order situation, problems faced by the business community, traffic situation, security of business centers and issues related to mutual cooperation between the police and the business community.
